Amazing Ministries

Ways You Can Connect

Ministry Opportunities abound at Amazing Grace.  The congregation is eager to be a healing presence, and many of the ministries happening flourish in partnership with other individuals and congregations.  Current opportunities include:

  • Food Pantry Ministry - Volunteers are needed to carryout intake, stocking and packing, and distribution. Volunteers are trained by the Food Ministry Coordinator Morgan   Blizzard.  Contact Morgan for more information:  AmazingGraceFood@gmail.com or 410 276 5674.
  • Center for Grace-Full Living -

Formerly the church parsonage, the Center for Grace-Full Living is a wellness center where healing activities are extended into the community.  In addition to the Food Pantry, Reiki healing touch, hand messages, health ministries and wellness initiatives are carried out.  In April, an afterschool garden club will begin for primary age children from the neighborhood.

  • Daily Ministry Support-  This year, Amazing Grace has an estimated income deficit of over $58,000.  In order to sustain current outreach and ministry, Congregational and individual partnerships are needed to close this deficit.

  •  Garden volunteer- Although we are currently in winter, soon ground preparation for spring will be carried out.  Jessie Scott, congregational and community leader, and AmeriCorps worker helps coordinate groups that gather on Saturdays.  Contact the church office and Miss Jessie will call you back! (410 276 5674).

Summer Day Campers learn and grow.  Activities are provided weekdays in July.

  •  Produce Drops with Maryland Food Bank- Several times a year the Maryland Food Bank partners with Amazing Grace to provide fresh nutritious food for the Neighborhood.  In February, over 5000 pounds of food was given to 130 families in 3 hours!

Amazing Port Street

The prayer labyrinth seeks to draw the community into reflection and prayer for healing.  Built in part from the rubble of demolished crack houses, the Amazing Port Street project includes a vegetable and flower garden and green growing grass to feed body, mind, and spirit.

The labyrinth invites people into  ireflection and prayer for peace in our community and around the world.

  • The Amazing Grandmothers-Every other week, a number of grandmothers who are raising their grandchildren gather for a meal, learning, and support.  Sponsor a meal or part of a meal to allow this ministry to continue. ($50-$100)

  • Summer Camp- During the month of July, Amazing Grace hosts a day camp for children from the community.  Volunteers for staffing and sponsors for meals and supplies are always needed.Talk to Pastor Gary for information.  (410 276 5674)

  • Hot Lunches-  Each month, Amazing Grace seeks to provide several hot nutritious meal for the neighborhood.  In February we partnered with Bea Gaddy and with Trinity Lutheran Mt. Joy, of Pennsylvania to break bread with sisters and brothers who are neighbors.  In addition, every 4th Sunday we share a meal after worship together.

Who We Are

Amazing Grace is located in a distressed inner city neighborhood and is working hard to be a gathering point for a healthier neighborhood. Through spirited worship and life in community, the congregation seeks to be a place where God's forgiveness, grace, and healing is experienced.  Currently, the congregation is developing the Center for Grace-Full Living in the parish house. An urban garden, food pantry, wellness initiatives, and other projects are all pieces of the puzzle.
