About the Center

Amazing Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church is establishing the Center for Grace-Full Living in East Baltimore. The Center is a ministry of the church designed to create and maintain a place in the community to promote the holistic health and the wellbeing of body, mind and spirit of East Baltimore residents through the integration of services and resources day and evening.   Its mission is to connect people with resources to manage their lives in a more holistic and effective way.  The Center will house agencies and individuals to provide their own unique services from within the facility.  The Center will organize, commit and schedule space for service providers and organizations to supply needed information, support and services to neighborhood residents on days and at times that fit their needs.  The specific issues and concerns that the Center for Grace-Full Living seeks to address are:

  • hunger as a result of poverty,

  • inadequate social support for women and single parent households,

  • substance abuse,

  • disparate access to health services and health information.

The Center for Grace-Full Living is in a central location of the McElderry Park community and is able to be an accessible place for expansion of services that address the needs noted above.  Such services include:

  • an expansion of Amazing Grace's food pantry through partnership with the Maryland Food Bank;
  • a support group for grandmothers who are raising grandchildren;
  • child and youth programing;
  • aid to those recovering from addiction through Narcotics' Anonymous;
  • community health education and referral through an experienced parish nurse;
  • health ministry offered through Amazing Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church;
  • complimentary medicine such as massage and reiki and the incorporation of the labyrinth  and gardens behind Amazing Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church.

This vision has emerged from 8 years of congregational health ministry at Amazing Grace Ev. Lutheran Church in the heart of East Baltimore
